Research Day Program & Contests
The 2025 Research Day Contests are an opportunity for District II Early-Career Fellows, Junior Fellows, and medical students to showcase their research and quality improvement projects to meeting attendees at this year's Annual District II Meeting. Contests will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. Annual District II Meeting registration is required to participate.

Contest Membership Categories:
- Early-Career Fellows – Physician members who have been Fellows for 8 or less years.
- Junior Fellows – Physician members who are in or have completed ob/gyn residency but have not yet taken ABOG board certification exams.
- Medical Students – Student members currently enrolled in an allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Students’ home address must be within the boundaries of District II (New York State, Bermuda).

Call for Abstracts
(Research submissions only. Case reports are not accepted.)
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, August 15th, 2025
The Annual District II Meeting call for abstracts is currently underway. The Martin L. Stone, MD Junior Fellow Research Poster Session and the Donald F. Richardson Memorial Prize Paper Awards are open to all ACOG District II Junior Fellows in good standing.
Martin L. Stone, MD Research Poster Session - The Martin L. Stone, MD Research Poster Session is open to all ACOG District II Junior Fellows and offers you the opportunity to showcase your research and build your CV. Case studies are not accepted into the Poster Session. The 30 top-scoring abstract authors will be invited to present their work to meeting attendees during the poster session. This contest awards the winner a $1,000 cash prize.
Donald F. Richardson Prize Research Paper Award - The 3 top-scoring Richardson abstract authors will be invited to share their research as oral presentations to conference attendees. Case studies are not accepted into the Research Paper Award. The author with the winning presentation will then submit their research paper to District II for submission in this national ACOG contest. Two winners will be selected by the National Committee on Awards, each receiving a $2,000 stipend to present their research at the 2026 Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting.
Scoring Criteria:
- ORIGINALITY: How original is the concept presented in this abstract? Or, how original is the new approach to an old problem?
- SIGNIFICANCE: How significant are the abstract’s conclusions in increasing understanding of a disease process, or in improving the diagnosis or treatment of a disease state?
- PRESENTATION: How logical are the ideas presented in this abstract? How clearly written and free of grammatical problems is the abstract?
- METHODS: If applicable, how suitable is the research design for the stated objectives, and how appropriate are any statistical techniques applied?
Junior Fellows may enter their research abstracts in either or both contests by selecting the appropriate category during the submission process:
- Poster only - Enter the Martin L. Stone Poster Session
- Podium only – Enter the Donald F. Richardson Prize Research Paper Award contest for the chance to present your research orally to meeting attendees.
- Podium/Poster - Enter both contests

Quality Improvement Poster Challenge
Open to District II Early-Career Fellows
and Junior Fellows
Call for Projects
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, August 15th, 2025
Back by popular demand is the Saad Khalil Memorial Quality Improvement Poster Challenge. The Poster Challenge is open to all District II Early-Career Fellows (those who are Fellows for 8 years or less) and Junior Fellows and is designed to recognize ob-gyns who have utilized quality improvement science to implement a QI project. The contest celebrates the critical role physicians play in quality improvement and patient safety and offers the winner a $500 cash prize.
Medical Student Research Poster Session

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, August 15th, 2025
ACOG District II is happy to announce that the medical student poster session is back by popular demand at this year’s Annual District II Meeting, New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, Saturday, October 25, 2025. Poster presentations are often the first opportunity young researchers are given to present their work to renowned Fellows at important scientific meetings. A Call for Abstracts is now open for all District II medical students to submit their research in this poster session. The 30 top scoring abstracts will be invited to present their work during the poster session. The contest offers a $250 cash prize.
